The importance of a good
landscape plan cannot be overemphasized. Developing a sound
framework enables all elements of the garden to work in
synergy. Whether you are starting from scratch or adding to
an existing garden a plan establishes a clear course of
action.
A landscaped garden should be seen as an extension of the home;
an 'outside room'. It is important that the two are linked so
that they appear to function as one entity. An understanding
of the way shapes relate to each other is at the very heart of
garden design. It is the underlying abstract shapes that give
a garden its visual strength.
New Look Landscapes Ltd offers state-of-the-art computerized 2D
and 3D landscape design. This enables the client to have a virtual
tour of their garden before work even starts. These computerized
designs allow 'fly-over' views, shading and night-time viewer to
allow the client to really feel and experience the characteristics
of the design.
The Design Process
The design process begins with a consultation and site
visit. This first consultation is free within the
Dunedin area. A price will be provided on request for out of
town consultations. For the consultation we will meet with
you on-site to discuss your objectives and help create a brief for
you. We will ask questions and get a general feel of the site
so we have a good understanding of what you are trying to
achieve. Bring all your ideas and dreams
with you so we can add them to the brief.
After this initial consultation we will provide you with a
quote or an estimate for the site survey, draft concept plan, final
plan, planting plan and design details. Upon acceptance
of the quote or estimate the next step is to perform the site
survey. Photos of the site are taken and existing features
measured. A concept plan is then drafted based on the design
ideas that were discussed during the initial consultation. This
draft will show the basic layout of the site and the main design
details. This concept plan is then presented to you.
Any changes are made and the final plan is created on the
computer in 2D or 3D format. The planting plan and
design details are added into the final plan.
Now you are ready for the construction to begin.
